Sean Bell Shooting

So, everyone knows about the Sean Bell shooting and the trial that ruled in favor of the police =[
Like most, I was really shocked and disappointed and angry that the murderers got away with shooting 50 or so bullets at a man. Throughout history, we always hear about men who are supposed to protect the people, men who are supposed to make the world a safer place, be hypocrites. Yes, they are HYPOCRITES. They arrest those who shoot innocent people who have done nothing. Yet, they still shot a man because of his skin color. Other examples of misconduct include the Kent State riot in May 1970- the National Guard shot 67 bullets in a barrage lasting 13 seconds upon demonstrators who were protesting the Vietnam War.
What bothered me the most, was the racial factor. It really hurts me, especially being Indian, that the world is still unkind. We still are making the same mistakes over and over again that we made centuries ago. HIstory is supposed to teach us to learn from the past and make sure that such occurrences will never happen again. So, why do people still resent people of diversity? I just cannot seem to understand what those policemen were thinking as they fired those bullets at Sean Bell.
It just really hurts me that innocent people get hurt for being different. Uniqueness is supposed to be celebrated. Not something frowned upon! It’s ignorance. Ignorance is whitewashing the world. && that needs to stop.
Rest in Peace, Sean Bell.

flds – my thoughts
April 26, 2008

So, recently, there has been a lot of buzz, controversy, and sickening details into this Texas sect that many consider a cult. One of the problems is the polygamy issue. Why do these men feel the need to marry more than one wife. It is disgusting and unfair to the women. This can result in a pandemic of sexually transmitted diseases. What is even worse and makes you want to cry is that many of these wives are teenagers, children, young women, that have barely been broken into society. As soon as they hit puberty, they are forced to marry old men! These girls miss out on their childhood. They are meant to be baby-making machines. && the only way for them to be accepted is to “please their husbands and cater to their needs and wants.” How is this in any way just? It makes me sick in my stomach to watch the invasion into the cults. I just get this sick feeling. The worst part is, the people are shut behind gates. Like animals at a zoo, they go through their daily lives, not quite knowing what lies outside their gated community. No freedom. Can you imagine that?
This religion, sought out acceptance from God. Everything they have done, they have done in the name of God. But really, is this what God wanted? I highly doubt that.

war- what is it good for?

A while ago, I was talking with Alan Canfora, a devoted activist from the 1970s and was actually shot in the wrist by the National Guard on May 4 1970 in Kent State University. As a strong anti-war hippie even today, we discussed the parties and the differences. Before the meeting him, I thought that Republicans and Democrats were not that different, but it turns out they are, I guess. One of the major differences is WAR. War. It is a three letter word that causes so much destruction and pain to all the parties involved. Leftists are typically totally against war in general. Democratsbelieve that there are countless ways to avoid it. And of course, a common statement is that it doesn’t solve a thing. War just throws away countless lives- someone’s sister or brother, someone’s child, someone’s best friend, someone’s spouse. Republicans campaigning right now do not have the intention to withdraw troops from Iraq until the original “mission” is accomplished. McCain has said on several occasions that if it takes 100 years to finish up the Iraq War, then we’ll be there for 100 years. And I? I am a hippie at heart. I, like Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., believe nonviolence and peace. Why sacrifice lives when not necessary? It just doesn’t make sense. Thinking about it now, I can’t believe I have ever supported a war barbarian better known as John McCain. I believe it is necessary to end the war in Iraq. End the bloodshed, end the pain. karma

Got Karma?
a conversation with a friend led me to wondering; are we repaid for the good deeds we do? for instance what about “always the bridesmaid and never the bride” how come she doesn’t get married? Apparently, what goes around doesn’t come back around. Why? Doesn’t she deserve that? Anyways, life is supposed to be at least somewhat balanced. So why aren’t my deeds being repaid? Am I supposed to keep on waiting? Just, have faith or hope Hope. What if you’re tired of hoping?
